Trump incompetence a decline of democracy
Categories: Letters to the Editor, OpinionI enjoyed reading Vince Dacquisto’s Nov. 16 letter [“Trump is a cancer on American people”], mostly because he was my sixth-grade social studies teacher. The other reason is that the incompetence of our president is gaining more and more attention. That said, I would like to make a suggestion — that the personality/conduct disorder-like behavior he has been demonstrating in his approach to governing has some benefits in the long-term.Our president may very possibly reduce English to the use of adjectives and adverbs. After all, I guess, one can only speak so much blatant and verifiable falsehood before nouns and verbs become problematic. However, I believe the greatest benefit will be in the very incompetence and disreputable plays Mr. Dacquisto described so passionately. The way Trump, the copper conquistador, comports himself is drawing attention to the diminishment of the American democracy that has taken place since the 1980s.James CiminoSchenectadyMore from The Daily Gazette:Schenectady NAACP calls for school layoff freeze, reinstatement of positionsSchenectady police reform sessions pivot to onlineEDITORIAL: Find a way to get family members into nursing homesEDITORIAL: Beware of voter intimidationFoss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen?
