If you’re a fan of gaming headsets then you no doubt know about Plantronics. For years, the company has released high-quality headsets that help enhance the gaming experience. Not one to sit on its laurels, the company has announced a brand-new series of its RIG 500 headsets. The RIG 500 Pro Series features an exoskeleton earcup design with an isolated inner acoustic chamber that helps reduce distortion. The peripheral’s 50 mm drivers provide wide-range frequency response. Its dual-material ear cushions not only provide comfort for long gaming sessions, but they also reduce background noise. The PlayStation and Xbox editions of the headset come with the RIG Game Audio Dial, which is a 3.5 mm connector with integrated volume control for wireless game controllers. This means console gamers can control the game’s volume directly from their controllers. PC models of the headset have an inline volume slide.“The new RIG 500 Pro Series takes the innovative modular design of the RIG 500 to the next level,” said Jack Reynolds, director, Gaming Products, Plantronics. “And, it continues the impressive number of firsts we’ve brought to competitive gamers, including the first VR-focused headsets, Dolby Atmos activation and now, the RIG Game Audio Dial for Xbox One and PS4 wireless controllers.”The RIG 500 Pro Series is available in HX, HS and Esports editions. Despite the high-quality, don’t expect the headsets to cost an arm and a leg. PlayStation and Xbox One owners can pick up the HS and HX headsets (respectively) for $79.99, while PC users can nab the device for $99.99. Competitive gamers can purchase the ESports Edition for $149.99.I’m a big fan of Plantronics’ headsets, and the RIG 500 Pro looks like another winner. We’ll actually get a chance to try the headset next week during E3, so make sure to come back here to read our hands-on impressions. For more information, please head over to the company’s official website.
