Man injured at Norfolk detachment

A Norfolk man was injured while he was taken into custody at the Norfolk detachment of the OPP in Simcoe this week.The local force is withholding comment on the incident now that the matter is in the hands of the province’s Special Investigations Unit.“At approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, a 68-year-old man attended the OPP Norfolk detachment in Simcoe for an appointment,” SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon said in an email.“When officers attempted to arrest the man, there was an interaction. The man was eventually subdued and later transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.”The SIU is called when people are injured or killed during an interaction with police in Ontario. The SIU also investigates complaints of sexual assault involving members of a police service in Ontario.
