FIFA secretary Jerome Valcke Suspended Amid Corruption Investigation

Rabat – FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke has been put on immediate leave and relieved from his duties until further notice. The top FIFA official will be investigated for allegations of corruption involving a scheme to sell World Cup tickets above face value.FIFA, football’s world governing body, said Thursday in a statement that it had been “made aware of a series of allegations involving the secretary general and has requested a formal investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee.” Valcke, 54, who has served as FIFA secretary general since 2007, has denied the “fabricated, outrageous” allegations.FIFA has been plagued by claims of corruption since May, when Swiss police arrested seven of its top executives at a hotel in Zurich.
