LA HABRA HEIGHTS – Don Chilson and his wife have lived on Hacienda Road since 1956, but the past few years have been a little crazy for them. Chilson says he’s counted at least 21 instances in which a car has spun out of control on Hacienda, crashing through his fence. City officials say the number is actually far fewer, but Chilson claims that many of those 21 drivers did not stick around for police to show up. Regardless of the true number, La Habra Heights officials are taking safety seriously on Hacienda, near Chilson’s home. Plans call for the installation of a 100-foot guard rail next to his home, plus the planting of trees and bushes to block his home from the view of drivers. Chilson said he’s grateful for anything the city can do to improve safety on Hacienda. “The guard rail will help,” he said. “It’s the first time we’ve ever had anybody go that far to help us.” For more on this story, pick up tomorrow’s Whittier Daily News. 165Let’s talk business.Catch up on the business news closest to you with our daily newsletter.
