The United States will play an exhibition game against China on June 2 in San Jose. The game, announced Monday by the U.S. Soccer Federation, will be the last for the Americans before the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean (June 6-24 in the United States), and the Copa America, the championship of South America. At the Copa America, which will be held in Venezuela, the U.S. team is an invited guest and meets Argentina (June 28), Paraguay (July 2) and Colombia (July 5) in the first round. Upcoming exhibition games include Ecuador (March 25 in Tampa, Fla.) and Guatemala (March 28 in Frisco, Texas). The U.S. Soccer Federation’s board unanimously approved an effort to bid for the 2018 World Cup. The board gave its approval Friday in Los Angeles, and the vote was endorsed by the USSF national council the following day, the USSF said Monday. The United States hosted the tournament in 1994. The British government has agreed to back a bid by England to stage the 2018 tournament. South Africa is host in 2010, and FIFA’s executive committee said the 2014 World Cup will be in South America. Govt-Oppn bonhomie in RS as Jaitley tables Budget

first_imgNew Delhi, Feb 29 (PTI) After days of bitter war of words, a rare spectacle of bonhomie was witnessed today between the Government and Opposition in Rajya Sabha, as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley laid the Union Budget 2016-17.After entering the House, Jaitley walked towards the seat of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a well-known economist.Watching this, Singh came mid-way where both greeted each other and engaged in an animated conversation for a few minutes. Deputy Leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma also exchnaged pleasantries with Jaitley.Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, who was formerly in Congress, earlier went to Singh and greeted him. He also walked up to the seat of Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, where both the leaders chatted briefly.BJP members were also seen congratulating Jaitley on the Budget.
