Mount St Helens climbing permits go on sale Monday

first_imgAMBOY — Climbing permits for Mount St. Helens go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday online through the Mount St. Helens Institute website.The address is www.mshinstitute.org.The permits cost $22 and are required above 4,800 feet in elevation on Mount St. Helens.Changes in the permit process for 2015 include requiring climbers to print their permits, fill in the climber’s name on each permit and bring them to the trailhead.Climbing registers are at Marble Mountain Sno-Park and Climbers Bivouac trailhead. Climbers are required to sign the register at the trailhead when they begin their climb.Plastic permit holders are available at the register stations so climbers may display each permit while on the mountain.Parking permits will no longer be provided with climbing permits. A national forest day pass for parking will cost $5 and will be available at a self-service station at Climbers Bivouac, at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument facilities or online a www.discovernw.org/store_recreation-passes_1PASS.An annual Northwest Forest Pass or interagency pass will be be accepted for parking.last_img read more
